The Modern Axe is a tool and weapon in The Forest. The axe has a carbon steel head with a fiberglass shaft. It is currently the best available real axe for cutting down trees in the game, only topped by the chainsaw which is technically not an axe and has the downside of using fuel in the process.

Gameplay

As of v0.18 the modern axe will cut down large trees within 9 hits, unlike the plane axe, which needs 17.

The modern axe is the best axe in the game for cutting down trees.

When used as a weapon, it deals five bars of damage. The modern axe swings slower than the plane axe, but knocks down cannibals more often than its weaker counterparts. Possessing nine bars of block, equivalent to the crafted axe and Crafted Club, it blocks almost all damage. The rusty axe, turtle shell, and club will block 100% of damage however.

The modern axe uses 7.9 points of stamina per swing and 23 points for a power attack.

Location

There is only one location where the modern axe can be found, in the hanging cave (cave 2): The Forest Map Location [1]

• Enter the cave from the west entrance (in the cliff near the native camp by the lake on the southern portion of the map). Continue down the passage until you enter a room. Upon entering this room, turn right and find a small passage leading to a long rope. At the bottom of this rope, follow the cave passage until you find a room with many boxes. The modern axe is located here along with a can of red paint, some soda, meds, dynamite, and flares.
