Lizards are common, passive animals that were added in update v0.01 to The Forest.

Gameplay[]

Lizards can be found almost everywhere on the surface of the peninsula, apart from the coasts and deep snowy regions. When killed, the player can obtain a lizard skin and a raw lizard as well as a lizard head from them.

Location[]

Lizards can be found nearly everywhere on the surface. A higher concentration tends to be in the swampy regions of the peninsula, where it is also easier to spot them due to the scarcer vegetation.

Hunting[]

As lizards are quite large and generally slow-moving, they are easy targets for the crafted bow or modern bow. However, once startled, they run away with surprising speed, and are capable of climbing trees in order to evade the player. They can be killed in one hit using any weapon.

Thus, an alternative for players not wanting to use ranged weapons is the spear aimed downwards. If the player is able to get close to a lizard without spooking it too early, they might be able to chase them, poking with the spear and hopefully hitting the animal in the process.

The animal trap is also capable of capturing lizards. They cannot be picked up. It is best to kill them whilst in the animal trap though this may damage the animal trap. Using the crafted bow or modern bow can kill them with out damaging the animal trap though it can be difficult to hit the lizard whilst it is in the animal trap.

Known bugs[]

  • If a lizard is killed climbing a tree or on a gradient and the body rolls away, the skin and meat is still collected from the location the lizard was killed and not from its body.
  • On rare occasions, the lizard cannot be killed, despite taking large amounts of damage from any weapon. It will gain a bloodied effect but appears to be invincible.
