Jessica Cross is the mother of Megan Cross and ex partner of Dr. Mathew Cross, aka The Red Man. The family lived in the Pringle Township of the British Columbia province of Canada. However, Mathew proved to be an unhinged man, to the point Jessica had to file a restraining order against him. She later was murdered in a homicide by multiple stab wounds and head trauma. Given Dr. Cross's unhinged nature, and their daughter's subsequent participation in the Sahara experiments, it is implied that Mathew killed Jessica himself and took custody of Megan by force, with Sahara agreeing to cover his tracks in exchange for Megan's participation in the experiments.
